Hinterland was born from a shared life spent outdoors — in the quiet early hours of shoot days, among working hounds, in the stables of private estates, and on the hidden tracks of the English countryside.
Together, Liam and Jilly combine decades of hands-on experience in country sports, animal husbandry, estate life, and luxury rural hospitality.

Meet Liam

Founder | Gamekeeper | Countryside Sporting Specialist

For Liam, the countryside isn’t a backdrop — it’s a way of life. Raised in a family where sporting tradition ran deep, he spent his childhood in the beating line beside his father, learning the etiquette and heritage that underpin British field sports.
This early passion became a career, and Liam went on to work as a professional gamekeeper, managing shooting estates, wildlife, and land with a deep respect for conservation and fieldcraft.

With lifelong connections across shoots, hunts, gundog circles and private estates, Liam brings authenticity, access and unrivalled country knowledge to Hinterland’s guests. Whether arranging a private day in the field, training gundogs, or guiding visitors through traditions that are rarely shared with the public, Liam’s role is to open the door to the real British countryside — the one seen by those who live and work within it.

Meet Jilly

Co-Founder | Estate Hospitality & Private Client Specialist

Jilly’s career has been shaped by service, precision and discretion. Having served as Head Groom & House Manager for private families, she developed a deep understanding of both animal management and the expectations of high-net-worth households.
Her work later expanded into luxury estate hospitality — planning & hosting shoot days, private stays & occasions, managing staff, and acting as house manager and concierge for American families with second homes in the Cotswolds.

With a passion for Trail Hunting, and a natural gift for organisation and guest care, Jilly ensures every Hinterland itinerary is seamless, personal and beautifully executed. Whether coordinating a bespoke retreat, managing homestays, or arranging private riding tours or days trail hunting, her focus is always on effortless comfort, authenticity and exceptional service.
